Urie's Tree Farm has been a family owned and operated business in Williston, VT for over a half century. The tree farm was started by Carl and Gert Urie in the 1960's and opened as the first "choose and cut" Christmas tree location in the Burlington area in the early 1970's. People parked a mile away for the opportunity to select and cut their very own fresh tree! With Carl's passing in 1986, Gert took over the tree farm and did a remarkable amount of work keeping the tree plantation in operation. Any one who saw her out planting seedlings or cutting the grass among the trees with her mower were amazed at the energy of the 70+ year-old woman. In the 1990's, her daughter Marcia became a full participant in the tree plantation operation. She learned the secrets of planting, of shaping the trees, of mowing, and of stump removal. But most of all, she learned the true holiday spirit that comes from selling the "perfect" tree for young and old. The plantation is now operated by Marcia and Jan Jenkins who are following the tradition. They are planting several hundred seedlings each spring and work to keep the trees growing and maintained in a "green" method supportive of the environment. No pesticides. Hand shearing and shaping of the trees. They are looking forward to greeting you as you come to select your special tree. Happy Holidays.
